Yoyo was approached by Mugg & Bean, a popular restaurant franchise in South Africa, to update the current mobile app home screen.

This was the first major home screen refresh Mugg & Bean has requested since the launch of their app. Working together with our account managers and the Mugg & Bean team, we assessed what wasn't working for the brand anymore and what needed to now be included.

The old home screen featured a visual 'bean balance' within a coffee cup illustration, which Mugg & Bean felt had aged in the last few years, and the explanation of the bean balance was quite wordy and didn't convey a very simple action.

Yoyo was approached by Krispy Kreme South Africa to update the current mobile app home screen to include a loyalty stamp card and an expanded navigation bar.

The old home screen featured a toggle (the GO! next to the doughnut) that actually functioned as a button. The 'WHAT'S NEW' allowed users to scroll horizontally through news articles.

The main addition was a stamp card, where users would receive a stamp every time they purchase a dozen box of doughnuts. The loyalty balance has now moved up above it. The 'WHAT'S NEW' section now functions with vertical scrolling; the user can scroll down and see the articles with ease, as the titles and images are bigger and easier to read.

The new home screen required a burger menu in order to accommodate the new items that were added to the navigation menu. This choice was much neater and followed best practice, more so than having a 'more' option in the bottom navigation bar.

The main updated to the screen were removing the coffee cup graphic and rather including a simplified loyalty/bean balance.

Along with the home screen facelift, we created a burger menu that pulls out from the right side of the screen and a pop up modal that explains to the user how the doughnut stamp card functions.
